We've been working to put together a Trash Orchestra fundraiser in support of a west coast tour, that includes an anti-war march in Portland and a gathering of radical street bands in Seattle. I hope you'll join us for an exciting evening.

Join us for a Trash Orchestra Benefit in preparation for our tour to Seattle's Honk Fest West. Performances by Santa Cruz Trash Orchestra and the East Bay's amazing Brass Liberation Orchestra. With the help of Santa Cruz Guerilla Drive-In, we'll be showing the film Honk You Very Much -- a documentary about radical street bands -- and Auto Re-Vision -- a short doc about a handful of kids sealed in a room, who convert an automobile into an array of musical

| This is a fucked up incident whatever way you look at it. When the UC regents came to UCSC late last year, the students protested in an attempt to hold them accountable for nuclear weapons contracts, labor dealings, and tuition hikes. The university brought cops from UC Berkeley who overreacted to the student protest and turned violent. In a very typical cop move, they charged the protesters who were attacked with assault. They are still threatening to suspend and bring charges against the only black woman who was charged. Join Angela Davis in this march/rally to voice our outrage at the unfair treatment of Alette, and how it represents a traditional hostility towards communities of color on campus and growing repression of student & worker rights. You are one of the few groups I would be willing to send a few bucks, and I will. Although I cant afford much I will send what I can. I wish you great success -- which I am sure you will have. I hope others will send in some funds too. Your one of the few groups that have stood up WITH the poor while being unreasonably and unconstitutionally harassed using an unethical and ridicules law. I appreciate your unique way of fighting for the rights of others in a system that is corrupt and needs some shaking up, not just in the instance above. You have many successes outlined on your site. I don't want this to be a debate about that issue on THIS thread, just showing my support. Seems like you must be very clear these days here. Shake it up and have fun on your West Coast Tour.

Thursday, March 6 6PM on Free Radio Santa Cruz, listen and call in to hear and chat with "Wildside" Whitney--a Trashista who's out on the fund-raising trail, seeking to fund gigs up North and their tour. (Full disclosure: "Wildside" is not a name she's chosen, but was branded with for the purposes of this show).
We hope also to have a report on the latest police arrest in front of Borders (after the removal of the benches there last week) of two customers who moved a Bad Ass Coffee table and chairs across the street to sit in the sunshine while consuming drinking their legally purchased items.
And still more reasons to find ways out of the War and Occupation rather than douse along with the Democrats and play absurd electoral politics while the murders mount up over there.

The Trashistas also supported the Homies for the Homeless 6-day campout at City Hall when homeless people themselves set up a safe space for sleeping in early August last year. Add that to their resume.
